Hello everyone !! So, back with another fanart of one of my favorite marvel characters. And again, I'm sharing the step by step process of my artwork. Hope you like it.. :) You can ask with whatever help you need. Ever ready to be of assistance.
So, did a fan art of Laura Kinney AKA X-23.. Below are the processes . Enjoy !!
1. Rough Sketch - Sometimes, it's rougher than this. Here, I finalize the pose and how the character will look like.
2. Soft Lineart - Now, I make lineart of it on a new layer on top of the rough sketch layer. When I start coloring, I lower the opacity of the lineart layer to around 70-80%, depends on different artworks.
3. Base Color - The base color is done under the lineart layer. I set the mode of the line art layer as 'multiply' for some reason.
4. Light and Soft Shadows - Here, I decide the light direction. Lighting is really important, also tricky, so, might want to get careful with that.
5. Soft Details - Now, start detailing . This takes a really really long time. Depends on the complexity of the art form. More realistic art will require more detailing, for me though. Other GODly artists will do it just like that in a shorter time.
6. Material Detail - Okay, So, this is also important. I'm still learning this. Different materials , be it clothes, metals, etc have different material properties . You can see the leather part of the clothe differing to the normal softer clothe fabrics
7. Color Tone Blending - Now, the blending of color areas. See the skin-red tint on the hair near the face area.
8. Rim Light & Glow - Now , to play with the glow and rim lighting. I really love rim lighting. It always enhances my work, but it depends on the light directions as well. Can't use wherever you want.
9. Background - Now, well, the backgrounds with which I struggle a lot. Just play around and use what fits your scene or shot or the picture.
10. Final composition with the environment. - And behold, some light play, color overlay and color correction , the final piece is delivered. I hope this helped you. Follow for more. :)
